COINTOSS

History

Conceived in Caledon, Ontario during the summer of 2021; Guitarists Martin Rago and Gerry Morganelli joined together with drummer Julian Oreskovic to start crafting their repertoire of original music. In October 2023 the band decided to add a new element to their sound by bringing on bass player Kevin Corrado. Together they performed their music for the first time at a private event hosted by Northrides Orangeville in October of 2023.

The Sound

COINTOSS draws influence from a wide span of genres; with an emphasis on alternative rock. Both guitarists—Martin Rago and Gerry Morganelli—found themselves inspired by the edgy and energetic sounds of the blues-rock duos The Black Keys,- and Toronto's own Black Pistol Fire. Earth-shaking drums by Julian Oreskovic give their songs a larger-than-life feel. The band throws an interesting twist into the mix with alternative rhythms and vocals that resemble The Blue Stones, and Hozier. Deep-cutting, precise solos by guitarist Martin Rago hit the listener hard, and are reminiscent of Greta Van Fleet and the great rock legends. Guitarist/Vocalist Gerry Morganelli sings punchy lyrics over energetic rhythms, blending together riffs from folk, blues, and indie rock music. Funky and upbeat basslines by bassist Kevin Corrado add a modern edge to every one of their songs, further blurring the lines which define their sound. Live, the band puts on a fun and engaging show featuring wild stunts and party tricks, keeping the crowd locked in on the party. Their presence on stage and on the stereo is truly hard to ignore.
